November 3, 2012 - All season long, sophomore Joshua Mirth has been building and improving towards this meet, the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet, held in his home state of Wisconsin. Saturday, he made the build up worth it.
Mirth finished in fourth place at the 10K regional meet with a time of 31:12. His time and place qualify him for the NCAA Division II national championship meet, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 in Joplin, Mo.
Mirth was a GLIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week earlier this season, and has consistently been the Chargers' top performer all season. In two weeks, he will attempt to become Hillsdale's first All-American in men's cross country since recent graduate Tim Jagielski did it in 2008.
As a team, Hillsdale finished ninth at the meet with 272 team points. Freshman John Bell and sophomore Luke Hickman followed Mirth as scoring runners for the Chargers, taking 52nd and 53rd, respectively.
