Several members of the nationally ranked Hillsdale College men's tennis team have already been named the best in the conference in a given week this season.
Michael Szabo is the latest.
Szabo, a junior from Midland, Michigan, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office on Wednesday.
Over the course of three matches in Florida last week, Szabo compiled an overall record of 5-1, winning all three of his singles matches while going 2-1 in doubles action. One of those wins came over 6th-ranked St. Leo. Szabo has been playing the best tennis of his career, coming at a time when the Chargers are rising through the national ranks.
Wednesday night, Hillsdale landed in the NCAA Division II rankings at 45th overall, the first time it has cracked the national rankings since returning as a program in 2015.
