In the opener, the Chargers fell to the Miners of MIssouri S&T by a score of 5-2. In the second game, Grand Valley State recorded a 19-3 win, making Hillsdale 2-6 on the season.
Game one saw sophomore pitcher Andrew Verbrugge pitch all nine innings, yielding just three earned runs with three strikeouts. Three errors in the field led to two Missouri S&T unearned runs, which was the Miners' margin of victory.
Hillsdale hung close with GVSU for much of Monday's second game, entering the seventh inning trailing 4-1. But the Lakers scored 10 runs in the seventh to help make the final score what it was.
