Meet Results

September 14, 2012 – The Hillsdale College women's cross country team opened its 2012 season at the Division I-heavy Spartan Invitational in East Lansing Friday afternoon.

The meet did not include team scores, although the Chargers ran against plenty of tough competition, including a familiar face in an unfamiliar uniform.

Junior Victoria McCaffrey was the team's top runner, placing 67th overall with a race time of 22:52. Only runners from Grand Valley State and Edinboro finished ahead of McCaffrey from other competing Division II schools.

The freshman duo of Kristina Galat and Emily Oren went 2-3 in the Hillsdale lineup in their collegiate debuts. Galat was in 78th place with a time of 22:57, with Oren taking 96th, 16 seconds behind her classmate.

Sophomore Amy Kerst was fourth on the team with a time of 24:04. Head coach Andrew Towne noted that times tended to run on the slow side in the meet, due in part to all-night rain that drenched the East Lansing area before Friday's start.

The Chargers next hit the course at the Notre Dame Invitational Sept. 28.
