October 30, 2012 - The 11-game winning streak generated by the Hillsdale College volleyball team this season came to a swift end Tuesday night in Midland.
The Chargers were on the losing side of a 3-0 sweep administered by Northwood University at the Bennett Center. Northwood won the sets by scores of 25-18, 25-9, 25-18. Hillsdale is now 15-10 overall and 11-3 in the GLIAC, and the team will head back up north this weekend, playing Northern Michigan Friday and Michigan Tech Saturday.
Northwood got off to huge leads in each of the first two sets, and was able to shut down the Charger offense. Set three started off more positively for the Chargers, with the score being tied 12-12 at one time. But the Timberwolves finished off the set on a 13-6 run.
Hillsdale hit just .101 as a team for the match, while Northwood's offense cooked at a .320 hitting percentage rate. The Chargers' serving game also struggled, as they had just one service ace, while committing five service errors and six serve reception errors.
