January 19, 2013 - Breaking school records is never a routine thing. Unless you're Hillsdale College senior Kayla Caldwell.
Already a five-time All-American and owner of two different school records, Caldwell easily smashed her own school record in the pole vault during this weekend's Dan Gladstein Invitational, held on the campus of Indiana University.
Caldwell cleared 4.20 meters to easily win the event. That mark puts her in third place overall in the NCAA in the pole vault, as she is on a fast track to competing for a national championship once again in this event. She was the 2012 NCAA Division II national runner-up in the pole vault.
Competing against a high number of Division I programs, Hillsdale College freshman Emily Oren turned in an impressive time in the 3000 meter run, 10:11.47, which was good for second place.
Junior Amy Kerst (pictured) took second overall in the 800 meter run, placing second in 2:15.61.
