Walsh Tops Hillsdale to Open Charger Tennis Homestand

One of the surprise teams in GLIAC women's tennis this season has been Walsh University, who came to Hillsdale Friday afternoon and defeated the Chargers 6-3.

Hillsdale fell to 5-6 with the loss, while Walsh stayed in contention for a high seed in the conference tournament with a 9-3 overall record. Hillsdale plays at home throughout this weekend, hosting Lake Erie College at 10 a.m. Saturday and Malone University at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Walsh managed to win two very close matches among the doubles flights, including a 9-8 tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles.

Freshman Dana Grace Buck (pictured) bounced back from that frustrsting loss at doubles to post a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Rachel Blaauw was also a winner in a lengthy match at No. 6 singles, bouncing back from a 6-1 loss in the second set to win the third set 7-6.
