April 20, 2013 - In just two years, Brittany Parks has left a legacy of winning and leadership that will become a high standard for all those that enter the Hillsdale College women's tennis program in the future. Saturday afternoon, she closed out that two-year career with one of her most gratifying victories.
After losing the first set 6-1, Parks came back for an incredible three-set victory at No. 1 singles that helped the Chargers defeat Aquinas College 7-2 in the final match of the 2012-13 season for Hillsdale. The Chargers conlcude the season with a 14-6 overall record.
Parks (pictured) won set two 6-4 and a marathon third set 10-8 to put a victory cap on her career. Later Saturday night, Parks was recognized at the Hillsdale College Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet, receiving the President's Scholar-Athlete Award for maintaining an overall grade point average of 3.8 or above. It was a fitting conlcusion to an outstanding career.
Parks' final doubles match with the only partner she's ever had, sophomore Morgan Delp, had a much less dramatic result at No. 1 doubles, easily winning 8-1. Hillsdale swept all three doubles matches against Aquinas, with Lindsay Peirce and Sydney Delp teaming up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, and Shannon O'Hearn and Rachel Blaauw won at No. 3 doubles 8-5.
Sydney Delp and Peirce rolled to 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 3 and 4 singles respectively, while Blaauw pulled out a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles, clinching the win for Hillsdale.
