March 2, 2013 - The GLIAC plays its women's tennis season in the fall, while the rest of the country plays that sport in the spring. So although the Hillsdale College women's tennis team's finish in its conference is settled, it still has official matches as part of its spring season, and the first of those matches ended successfully Saturday afternoon.
The Chargers defeated Albion College 5-4 on the road. The team's 2012-13 dual meet record now stands at 12-6, and the team is back in action Wednesday, March 20 at Spring Arbor.
Three singles players and two doubles combos were victorious for Hillsdale against the Britons. Senior Brittany Parks won at #1 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and teamed up with sophomore Morgan Delp for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Lindsay Peirce (pictured) eased her way to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, and paired up with freshman Shannon O'Hearn to emerge with an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. O'Hearn also won her match, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 6 singles flight, recording a key result that was a big factor in the Chargers' team victory.
