September 29, 2012 - The Hillsdale College women's tennis team played perhaps its best team match of the season Saturday afternoon, but still fell just short against an undefeated Ashland University squad.
The Chargers put a serious scare into the Eagles before falling 5-4 in a GLIAC matchup in Ohio. Hillsdale is 2-4 on the season while Ashland improved to 7-0 with the narrow win.
Freshmen Sydney Delp and Lindsay Peirce were each double winners for Hillsdale, winning as the No. 2 doubles team 8-4, and each winning their singles matchups. For the second day in a row, Delp came back from a first-set loss to post a win, Saturday winning by a score of 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Peirce was victorious at No. 4 singles, easing her way to a 6-4, 6-1 win.
Senior Brittany Parks took home a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for the Chargers.
