The entire Hillsdale College women's swimming team generated season-best timea across a wide range of events at last weekend's University of Chicago Invite. One of the team's most talented perfrmers was singled out for her controbution to the team's success.
Junior Anika Ellingson is the second team member to earn a conference weekly honor this season, being named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Tuesday morning.
Ellingson, an NCAA championship qualifier last year, had four finishes of third place or better at the three-day marathon of a meet and set season-best times in three separate events.
She won the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:03.2, less than a second off her school-record time. She also hit season PRs in the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay, and took second place overall in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.55.
Ellingson hails from Litchfield, Minnesota.
