The Charger women's swimming team kept its winning streak going Saturday overpowering University of Findlay 154-107 and Malone University 194-57 in a tri-meet held in Canton, Ohio.
The distance freestyle events in the meet were the high scoring events with the chargers sweeping the top spots in the 1650 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle. Freshman Kylie Powrie started with a first place finish in the 1650 and sophomore Zoe Hopkins took second. In the 500 Freestyle the chargers took the first three spots via sophomore Jennifer Wheeler, freshman Kylie Powrie, and junior Jordan Rucinski respectively.
While the distance swimmers did their job, junior Rachel Kurtz sprinted to three first place finishes in the 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 50 freestyle. She achieved her season best times in the 50 free with a time of 24.45 and 100 free with a time of 54.06. Freshman Emily Shallman and Rucinski backed her up in the 200 freestyle with second and third place finishes.
The Chargers also took first and second in the 100 butterfly by Shallman and sophomore Naofa Noll. Other impressive races occurred by sophomore Sarah Rinaldi with a first place finish in the 400 IM, junior Cayley Cruickshank with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke and sophomore Jennifer Wheeler with a second place finish and season best time in the 200 butterfly. Senior Molly Birrer dropped over a second in her 100 freestyle swim while senior Kate Smith dropped time in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke. Hillsdale finished the meet out strong with a first place finish in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Chargers' next meet is the University of Chicago Invite in Chicago, Ill. Nov. 22-24.
