Swimmers Fall to Calvin, Grand Valley State

The Hillsdale College swimming team was defeated by Calvin College and Grand Valley State University 159-77 and 119-118 Friday night at Grand Valley.

The Chargers had multiple events with top three finishers in the meet. Freshman Kylie Powrie had her best meet this season with two first place finishes. She took first place in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 10:54.80 and then dropped three seconds in the 500 Freestyle to take a first place in that event with a time of 5:18.03.

Freshman Emily Balog also had a first place finish in the 200 IM with a season-best time of 2:14.55. Notable swims also occurred by sophomore Zoe Hopkins with a second place finish in the 1000 Freestyle, junior Rachael Kurtz with a second place finish in the 50 Freestyle, sophomore Naofa Noll (pictured) with a second place finish in the 100 Butterfly,  and freshman Emily Balog took second place in the 100 Breaststroke.

The Chargers also took third and fourth place in that event sweeping Calvin College with the help of  Junior Ali Bauer and Junior Cayley Cruickshank respectively. The Chargers took third, fourth, and fifth place in the 200 Freestyle Relay.

The Chargers take on Tiffin and Albion College November 8th at home.
