In the 2017-18 season dress rehearsal unfolded Wednesday night for the Hillsdale College women's basketball team.

Playing a much better second half, the Chargers fell to Eastern Michigan University 70-57 in an exhbition contest at the Convocation Center on the EMU campus. Hillsdale opens the regular season Friday, Nov. 10 against Lewis.

Through the first half, the Chargers struggled to get shots to fall, seeing many of them rim in and out. The quality of the shots weren't bad for the most part, they just weren't falling, as Eastern Michigan opened up an 18-point lead at the break, 38-20.

EMU's lead grew throughout the third quarter, as the Eagles led 60-37 at the end of the third quarter. But Hillsdale produced an impressive fourth quarter, outscoring EMU 20-10 while getting good looks and made baskets in transition.

Hillsdale outscored Eastern Michigan 37-32 in the second half of this exhibition game. The stats and won-loss result will not count in Hillsdale's final standings for the season.

Senior guard Maddy Reed led the Chargers with 14 points, hitting three 3-point baskets. She also grabbed 4 rebounds and picked up 5 assists. Freshman guard Jaycie Burger looked comfortable and effective in her time on the court, finishing with 11 points and 3 assists.

Junior Allie Dewire and senior Allie Dittmer each scored 10 points. Junior Brittany Gray added 9 in the contest.
