The Hillsdale College women's basketball team got to try out its new digs Tuesday night, playing its first game in the newly renovated Jesse Philips Arena.
The Chargers defeated Olivet College 81-68 in an exhibition contest. The team will next see official action against GLVC foe McKendree on Friday, Nov. 22 in Springfield, Ill.
Coach Claudette Charney took advantage of the exhibition game format to experiment with different lineups throughout the game. Nine of the team's players saw between 12 and 26 minutes of playing time in the game, which the team led for the last 28 minutes of the game.
Olivet started the game with a 7-0 lead, but the Chargers took control from there, primarily working effectively inside the paint to wrest control away from the Comets.
A total of 44 fouls were called in the game.
Senior Angela Bisaro did an excellent job of handling the ball in traffic near the basket, and finished her shots effectively. She led Hillsdale with 18 points, going 7-for-11 from the field. She also collected four offensive rebounds and had four steals.
Junior Brooke Borowski scored the team's first eight points, making two 3-point shots. She finished the game with 13 and four steals. Junior Megan Fogt registered a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with two blocks and three steals.
