8 Charger Softball Players Earn Scholar All-American Recognition

Having to endure one of Division II's most difficult academic regimens didn't stop eight members of last year's Charger softball team from being recognized for their high achievement in the classroom.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the governing body of college softball, singled out eight members of last year's team as Scholar All-American recipients.

Those players are: Sydney San Juan, Victoria Addis, Kelsey Gockman, Kyra Rodi, Bekah Kastning, Katie Kish, Amanda Marra and Haley Lawrence. All but Rodiu and Kastning are a part of this year's team.

Players must earn an overall grade point average of at least 3.5 to be eligible for academic all-American honors. A total of 1,268 Division II softball players earned this honor for the 2016-17 school year.
