One meet, one conference record broken for the Hillsdale College men's track team.
Sprinter Nate Eldridge shattered the Great Midwest Athletic Conference record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.47 seconds. That mark was good for third place at the SVSU Holiday Open, hosted this weekend by Saginaw Valley State University.
Two other NCAA provisional marks were attained by members of the Charger men, both coming in the same event.
Ryan Thomsen and David Chase teamed up in the heptathlon event, finishing second and fourth respectively. Thomsen's score of 4,873 points was not far from the record he set in his only collegiate meet, one year ago. Chase also performed well with 4,727 points for Hillsdale.
Freshman Adam Wade made his collegiate debut a successful one by taking third in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.89. Sophomore Merrick Canada took fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.53 meters to help lead the team in its season debut.
