The Hillsdale College men's track team had solid finishes across the board at the Northwest Ohio Invitational held in Findlay, Ohio Friday night.
Some of the team's seniors made an impact with their top-tier performances. Sprinter Maurice Jones won the 200 meter dash, and John Banovetz finished fourth in shot put with a NCAA provisional mark. Matthew VanEgmond finished second in the 800. Jared Van Dyke finished third in the 400 meter dash. Matthew Raffin and Elliot Murphy took third and fourth respectively in the 60m hurdles.
Three returning sophomores also had impressive performances. Matthew Harris won a jump-off to take first place in pole vault. Todd Frickey took third in the 60 and Nick Shuster finished fourth in the high jump.
Freshman Ty Etchemendy finished in the top three in three events taking third in the 200m dash and the triple jump. As a part of the 4x400 relay (consisting Van Dyke, Murphy and Jones), the team finished second.
The Chargers continue their season Jan. 24 with the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington Indiana.
