January 19, 2013 - Over the weekend, the Hillsdale College men's track team raced against its toughest competition of the indoor season yet, facing a field filled with Division I programs at Indiana University's Dan Gladstein Invitational.
Despite the competitive field across all events, the Chargers made a strong account of themselves, highlighted by junior All-American Maurice Jones.
Jones was the top runner in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.07 seconds. The 200 was the team's best event at the meet, as Hillsdale took three of the top seven places in the race. Jones was joined by freshman Alex Mexicotte (6th) and junior Michael Shaw (7th) in the top seven.
Making his indoor season debut, 2012 cross country All-American Joshua Mirth put together an impressive performance in the 5000 meter run, taking second place (first among college-affiliated runners) with a time of 14:49.07.
Thrower John Banovetz had another good day, taking fifth in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw.
