Continuing its challenging week throug hthe state of Florida, the Hillsdale College men's tennis team lost a 7-2 decision to St. Leo University Tuesday afternoon at the St. Leo Tennis Center. The loss makes Hillsdale 2-5 on the season.
As the Chargers have played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the Midwest Region, their Tuesday opponent was as strong as any they've played this year. St. Leo came into the match ranked seventh in Division II and fifth in the ultra-tough South Region.
But Hillsdale was more than competitive, especially in the doubles flights where it won two of tyree matches.
Junior Justin Hyman and sophomore Charlie Adams were victorious at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-5. And it wasn't like Hillsdale was playing lesser foes than who St. Leo had at singles. Hyman and Adams beat St. Leo's top two singles players in their matchup.
Julien Clouette and Milan Mirkovic were 8-4 winners in the No. 3 doubles slot, a win which should give the team plenty of confidence going forward as it will begin G-MAC play once it returns from Flordia.
