Summer-like weather greeted the Charger men's tennis team in its only home outdoor match of the fall portion of its schedule Tuesday afternoon.
A win was there to be had too.
Hillsdale defeated Indiana Tech 7-2 in a non-conference matchup at the Mary Jane Delp Courts. It was Hillsdale's first dual match of the season, and last one until the season fully gets underway in February.
The No. 1 doubles team of Justin Hyman and Charlie Adams set the tone for the day with an 8-0 win in its match. Adams came back to post a 6-4, 3-0 (ret.) win at No. 1 singles. Senior Dugan Delp and junior John Ciraci helped get Hillsdale out in front after the completion of doubles play with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
Sophomore Michael Szabo, who rarely saw action last year, stepped into the No. 2 singles flight and came away with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 win, playing impressively throughout.
Freshman Gabe Katz also stepped up with a quality win at No. 4 singles, winning 6-3, 6-1 in his home collegiate debut.
