The Charger men's tennis team fell to top-seeded Ferris State University Saturday afternoon in the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals in Midland.
The Bulldogs beat the Chargers 5-1 to advance to Sunday's championship match. Hillsdale will face Grand Valley State in the tournament's third-place match at 8:30 a.m.
Hillsdale's lone victory was a significant one. Charlie Adams and Justin Hyman combined for an 8-4 win at No. 1 singles, beating the Ferris State duo of Till von Winning and Stew Sell, who are ranked 16th in the nation in the NCAA Division II.
Only three singles matches were completed, because at that point, Ferris State clinched a mathematical victory in the match. This follows the typical format in GLIAC Tournament play.
