Dan Evans is entering his seventh season as the full-time assistant men’s basketball coach at Hillsdale College. But his relationship with head coach John Tharp goes much further back than that.
Evans played his college basketball for Tharp at Lawrence University from 2002-05. He started for three seasons as the team’s point guard. He was named honorable mention All-Conference after his senior season and helepd lead his team to the Division III Elite Eight in 2003-04.
Evans assists Tharp in all aspects of the program, and has established himself as an effective recruiter.
He played his high school basketball at Cary-Grove High School in Illinois, where he was an All-Conference pick twice.
After graduating from Lawrence, he worked at Caremark as a pharmacy manager in Northbrook, Illinois. Now that he’s returned to coaching, he says he has found a perfect fit at Hillsdale.
Evans and his wife Amy were married in June 2011. They reside in Hillsdale.
