Anything worth doing once, is worth doing twice. At least when it comes to Great Midwest Athletic Conference awards for Trey Brock.
The Hillsdale College junior wide receiver was named the G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday morning. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.
Brock had another big day Saturday in Hillsdale's 37-31 win at Alderson Broaddus. He caught 9 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns, those scoring plays covering 3 and 46 yards. His 3-yard catch closed the Charger gap to 24-21 shortly before halftime, and his 46-yard catch and run put the team in the lead for good early in the third quarter.
With his first reception of the game, Brock broke Keenan Cole's single-season G-MAC record for receptions. Brock's number now stands at 66, and with two games remaining in the season, he has a chance to put that conference record out of reach.
His current yardage total is 1,048, making him just the second player in school history with two 1,000-yard receiving seasons. He needs 321 yards to break Andre Holmes' single-season receiving yards record over the season's final two games. As it is, Brock's total - in just nine games - ranks ffith in a single season in school history. Brock also has 2,853 receiving yards, leaving him 240 yards away from Holmes' career record.
Brock and the Chargers play their final home game of the 2017 season this Saturday against Malone University starting at 1:00.
